The Liebherr family business was started in 1949 by Hans Liebherr. The company initially gained fame from its mobile tower crane that was well-known for its affordability and ease of assembly. It was upon this invention that the foundation of the company flourished under. Today, The Liebherr company has grown to become amongst the top manufacturers within the world of construction equipment. The business has also earned the reputation of being the acknowledged provider of user-oriented technically innovative products and services in various fields. The company has currently become a "Group" working in every continent with more than 35,000 workers and over 130 companies across the globe.
The Liebherr Group has been divided into different company units so as to guarantee a manageable operating size. These individual units operate independently. This set up allows the business the ability to be flexible to market signals and stay in tune with worldwide competition. The divisional control companies handle the operative management of the sales companies and the production for the individual product segments. The Liebherr Group presently has 10 different product divisions.
Liebherr Group's holding company is Liebherr-International AG. Liebherr-International AG is located within Bulle, Switzerland and is operating by members of the Liebherr family. Presently, the family business is being managed in the 2nd generation by Dr. H.C. Isolde Liebherr and her brother Dr. H.C. Willi Liebherr. Since 2012, some of the active individual divisions have been represented by 3rd generation members of the family including: Jan Liebherr, Sophie Albrecht, Patricia Ruf and Stefanie Wohlfarth. These family members have been working hard together to help set up the family business' course in the future. They are staying on top of residential buildings and large-scale industrial projects all over the globe.
Hans Liebherr began to build his business during 1949, in a tiny town called Kirchdorf within southern Germany. Kirchdorf, presently supports amongst Liebherr's 20 manufacturing locations. They are able to average a yearly output of about 2800 wheeled excavators and employ over 1400 individuals in that particular workforce.
