Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They can run from LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for various applications. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled whenever they require. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders which can be changed out when the machinery should be refueled.
In order to avoid potentially serious injury, certain safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be sure to wear the appropriate safety equipment such as heavy gloves, safety glasses or goggles. Turn off the ignition of the forklift prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never utilize any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened only by using the hand.
