How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks which could have otherwise required using the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machine make it the right option for completing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be carried out without any specialized tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found in the lift basket, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Normally, models which are older will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could likely happen.
