In 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case in Racine. He started making threshing machinery. The company later gained international recognition as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural application. Eventually, the business grew to become the world's largest manufacturers of steam engines.
By the year 1912, Case had become established in the construction machine business. The quickly began to produce road building equipment such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction machine company through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their business by the mid-1990s to become the top maker of medium-sized to light-sized construction equipment.
Case merged with the company New Holland in 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising several of the world's leading brands of construction and agricultural machines.
