Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machine that enables employees to perform tasks without having to build a scaffolding. They are utilized to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common equipment found in warehouse and factory environment also.
Usually, construction lifts offer wheeled and powered bases which are capable of driving to the work location and have a platform on them that is responsible for elevating personnel. There are many different types of lifts and each and every one is suitable to different tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Cherry pickers or bucket trucks, are built with a long boom that has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where an employee can stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are used by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers usually use these machines to trim trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly that is mounted on a standard truck, and this means these lifts are able to travel on roads at normal traffic speeds. This mobility greatly increases the area they can effectively service. This is especially vital for power companies. Like for instance, many of these businesses use cherry pickers to raise workers up so they can work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets should be regularly checked and insulated well since they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated booms lifts or knuckle lifts include a work platform mounted to an arm that can bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and can turn the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are used for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-finished projects that do not need easy access to the area right beneath the jobsite. These lifts could be used to repair piping or exterior electrical work, as well as areas which are hard to clean. Usually knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the boom extended.
