Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas orderly and to stock up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck is available in quite a few types: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is commonly used. This particular model consists of telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is needed inside warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
